Hello,

Before getting into the nitty gritty of it can IRTrans be installed and WORK as a service under Windows 7 x64? The only other thread I could find seemed to indicate that this was not possible, at least in Vista. Thank you.

Hi,
the IRTrans SW can be installed as a service on x64 systems.

There is, however, one limitation: It is not possible to send virtual key presses form a service on Vista/Windows 7 x64. This limitation is imposed by MS.

Thank you for the quick response. So basically you are saying the SW can be installed as a service but is of no use, correct?

No, the SW can be fully used. You can learn and send IR Codes and also receive IR Codes through supported applications.

Only Control of e.g. MS Mediacenter Edition through Keyboard shortcuts is not possible.

I see, so I could not use the SW, running as a service, on a windows media center HTPC. But a 3rd party SW cold interact with the service and process keystrokes?
