multiple USB IRTrans devices

Is it possible to address multiple USB IRTrans units, connected to the same PC ? There seems to be no way to distinguish between the different units. The IRTrans GUI client only refers to 1 device.
We want to control a rack containing multiple AV devices (DVD players, VCRs, cassette decks, etc) of the same brand. Although the units share the same type of remote control, we want to control them independently. How should we proceed ?

Hi,
it is possible to use multiple USB IRTrans devices. The irserver will find all USB Devices on startup. If you look at the diagnostics page on startup of the irserver you will see a list of devices. They are sorted in order of their USB Serial number. That means they will have the same device number each time.

Addressing of the devices is done using the parameter "bus". 0 is the first device, 1 the 2nd and so on.

You can test that setup using the "Send" page of the GUI Client - here you can set the bus parameter when sending.
All APIs and clients also allow to set the parameter bus.

It might, however, be easier to use an IRTrans LAN Controller (4 IR Outputs) or LAN Controller XL (8 IR Outputs).

Thanks for the fast response. It was my mistake : I forgot to restart the irserver (running as Windows service) after connecting the second device.
We will indeed consider the IRTrans LAN controller as a better alternative for our type of setup.
