Windows Server 2003 service - irserver.ini

Postby ocgltd » Sat 1. May 2010, 21:46

I installed irtrans onto my Windows 2003 server, as a service. I see there is a irserver.ini file in the c:\program files\irtrans directory which contains:

Code: Select all
lan

and the irserver.log contains:
Code: Select all
IRServer Version 6.02.43
[ 0]: IRTrans LAN: IR VER: E6.04.51       ETH VER: L1.07.56   SN: 45965
                   MAC:00-22-3e-07-00-60  IP Addr: 172.31.254.14

but that's all! Do I have to enter the IP address of my IRtrans LAN somewhere? What is the format of this ini file / what parameters can I use in the file? (What options do I have?)

Thanks
Mike

You do have all the options the irserver has.

These options are listed in the irtrans manual.

Please note that each parameter and value will get its own line.

The parameter "lan" lets the irserver make an autodiscovery of IRTrans Ethernet devices in your LAN.
You can simply replace it with the IP Address of the IRTrans device if you want to.

I read the 2 included manuals, and the irserver has a lot of command line options, do I just use those without the "--" or "-" prefix?

Yes, it has lots of options - however normally you will not need anything else than lan.

It might be extremely helpfull to document all the parameters as some of them are not shown if you start irserver.exe

e.g. how to shorten the startup delay etc.

Hi,
almost all parameters can be found in the IRTrans manual.

almost does not mean all

espacially the usage of

lan with ip-adress would be great and

how to shorten the delay of about 20sec at startup.

These are not in the manual, an example would be extremely kind and more helpfull instead of pointing to the manual where they aren't documented.

Maybe you can send an private message with an example if you don't want to have it public?

Hi,
the delay is only there if the -delay parameter is used. The length of the delay is the next parameter.
(e.g. -delay 200000 will give a 20s delay.)

In the irserver.ini file these parameters will be one per line:
-delay
20000

The use of IP addresses is very simple, too: Just add all IPs separated by a ";":

192.168.0.32;192.168.0.33

As there is no whitespace in this string they will be in one line of the irserver.ini file, too.
The IPs have to be the last parameter.

so in my case the ini has the following format

-lan
192.168.2.101

-delay
2000

and I am done?

And is the entry of the IP avoiding the search for other IRTrans, actually I have 2 of them in the network, but in the near future there might be several of them and I want the HTPCs start as fast as possible.

Kind regards Robertino

Really appreciate your help IRTrans

As I missunderstood the first answer I wrote in the ini-file

lan 192.168.2.101
delay 20000

Thanks again !

Now everything is clear
