Enabling External IR Input

Postby Reoryn » Fri 3. Aug 2012, 19:20

Hi,

This could be a very dumb question, but hopefully not :)

I have an Ethernet IRTrans with an Internal receiver - I've used that to learn most of the codes I want, but now I want to use the External IR input to Feed a direct signal into the device from my Philips Pronto Receiver, since I only want specific commands passed to it and the pronto has 4 outputs.

The manual says to remove the red jumper behind the internal IR input, but upon having a look, I can't see any jumpers on the board at all, never mind a red one - Am I missing something? :)

Cheers!

Hi,
newer IRTrans devices no longer have that jumper - you can enable an external receiver using the Web interfacce or the GUI Client.

BUT: The output of an IR Device (e.g. Pronto) is not a receiver input. It is configured to drive an IR LED while the receiver input is meant to connect an IR Receiver.
Connecting an IR Output to the receiver input might damage your hardware.

Ah, thanks, that would explain it x)

Hmm, in that case, Maybe I'll just tape an emitter to the internal receiver x)

That is the best way to do it.
