IR Tv remotes and a student score via USB

Hi,

I want to get a bunch of old TV remotes and have each one assigned to a student with some sort of Ir unique identifier. When the student presses a specific channel button on their remote it sends a signal to a usb and the channel choice and unique id are recorded. For example, I give a multiple choice quiz and the students each press their tv remote and their selection is recorded. So I need a) a usb device that picks up the TV remote signals and b) computer software that allows me to communicate with the USB....I think. Has anyone got any ideas? I am very new to this.

Hi,
in general that will be possible using the IRTrans USB.

There is, however, one problem: If multiple students press the remote buttons at the same time the signals will overlay each other and noting is received.

That is no problem of our devices but a physical effect.

What software would you use with this?

There is no SW for that readily available.

You would need to write your own SW using one of our APIs.
