Cannot control VMC 32bit with last IRTrans software

Postby aslg » Tue 21. Oct 2008, 17:27

I installed the last IRTrans software (date: 11.09.08) on an OrigenAE S16V and I selected the option to run it as a service.
Now I cannot control Vista Media Center. Only the Power On/Off button works, all the others seem ignored.
The IRTrans service is running (I checked it in the services applet) and I can start the GUI Client without any problem (I did not find anything interesting there, only the default values, I think).
Any suggestion?
I have the firmware v. 5.08.10

Thanks!

Running the SW as a service is not supported on Windows Vista - Vista does not allow interaction of services with the desktop but that is needed for Mediacenter Control.

I thought the limitation was only for Vista 64bit. Does it apply to Vista 32bit too?
I have the latter installed on my HTPC.
I have also the "Allow service to interact with desktop" checked on the IRTrans service.

Thanks!

Our lastest research has shown that interaction of services with the desktop is generally not possible on Vista (x86 and x64).

Ask Microsoft why - and ask them why the checkbox to allow that is still there anyway :?:

There is nothing we can do about that and nothing we can do to fix or work around that issue.
