IR sleep!!!

Postby Matt897 » Sun 30. Nov 2008, 15:17

Hi there, i've installed the internal USB infrared receivers and i've got a question on button functionality. I see the software allows for the receiver to learn new commands however i'm having trouble getting it to learn to goto sleep instead of shutting down. We use this in our living room and we watch tv for a bit then will leave the room for a long while and the computer must sleep to conserve energy.

Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
you will need to reconfigure the Action for the power button in the windows energy management settings.

Simply configure it to put the computer to sleep when the power button is pressed.

Ah, great idea i'll give it a shot. I was thinking maybe i would remove the 24 pin power connector that it came with and hope it could just run off USB power but this sounds better. Thanks

Ok so i tried this but it isn't solving the problem. I unplugged the 24 pin power connector and gave it a shot with only the internal usb connector connected and it also won't allow the computer to sleep. As soon as its removed all together the computer sleeps. I checked around to make sure i have the latest drivers and so on. For some reason the infrared board likes to kick the computer out of sleep every time it tries to enter sleep state even while on the timer or told so by the keyboard.

Any ideas?
does the infrared board only support s1 sleep and not s3? is there something i'm missing? It seems like a software glitch

Just to update the post, i've done alot of trial and error and have found the board doesn't seem to support s3 sleep state. I've tried every combination of plugging it in and unplugging it and the thing just doesn't want to do it. I've since tested s1 sleep state and it seems to be going to standby alright. Hopefully it will be a software upgrade in the future, because s3 is important when trying to conserve as much energy as possible

Hi,
we do not have any chance to change that behaviour - the IRTrans board will not do anything via USB - it just "presses" the power button using a relay.
