driving led

Postby Fischer » Wed 6. May 2009, 18:53

Hi,
with an IRTrans LAN,

Is it possible to send an ir code only to one external LED or each led is transmiting the code ?

I have a doubt because of the post "Unable to select individual LEDs when using UDP" in this forum.

When using external led connected with a 3.5 plug, can you give me the max length ?

Thanks

Hi,
all LEDs of the LAN Devices are connected in parallel. That means every LED will send the same signal.

If you need to control them independently you can use the 2x option for the IRTrans Ethernet device to control 2 LEDs independently.
To control 4 LEDs you can use the LAN Controller with 4 outputs or the LAN Controller XL with 8 outputs to control 8 LEDs.

The max. lenght for the external LEDs is 5m.

Hi,
thanks.
For me 5m is too short.

But i did not understand your post :
First you said that all ir led are connected in parallel.
After you said that it is possible with the 4 outputs.

Which leds are conncted in parallele ? Internal leds i assume.

In fact i need to drive 4 device but separately and lenght > 5m

=> i will use IRTrans bus module

Hi,
I meant different devices:

Using a standard IRTrans Ethernet device (1 IR Output for external LEDs) all LEDs are connected in parallel.

The LAN Controller devices have 4 or 8 (XL) outputs. You can connect single LEDs to these outputs that can be controlled independently.

If the distances are larger using Bus modules is a good solution.
