OK, we have bought a WRT54 router and installed dd-wrt. Version: Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/22/09).

IP Address is assigned fine by the internal DHCP server and the IRTrans is working.

Looks like we have wasted 50 EUR + 2 hours time :?

The problem has to be caused by the configuration you are using.

Which Firmware version does your IRTrans device have ?

Thanks for your efforts on fixing this... much appreciated.

For me I am using:
IR Trans PoE is LAN Version L1.07.24, IR Version E6.03.32
IR Trans Controller XL is LAN Version L1.07.24, IR Version E6.04.10

I have the same problem on all three of the IR Trans POE and the IR Trans Controller XL.

I'm running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (01/01/09) mega, (SVN revision 11296M NEWD Eko) on a LinksSys WRTSL54GS

Could it have anything to do with the default IP range of the DHCP server being in a different subnet (192.168.1.x) to the default address of the IR Trans (192.168.0.x)?

Have to say every other router I've ever used was in 192.168.0.x.

No, the default network does not matter at all. We are using different networks here, too.

Your IRTrans FW versions are rather new, that should not be the problem.
The FW version of the router is the same as we are using.

Do you assign a fixed IP address or are you using one of the pool ?

I am using static leases - Services tab, then the first Services tab in the DD-WRT GUI. I wanted to do this because when you create a static lease DD-WRT adds the IP addresss and host name to its DNS server - so one can then navigate to the IR TRans by typing in a name rather than an IP as the URL.

So for example... for one of the IR Trans PoE the entry in the static lease section looks like this:

MAC Address:
00:22:3E:01:04:09

Host Name:
IR-Balun-Retreat

IP Address
192.168.1.230

The DNS works fine...so I can get to the webpage for this IR Trans by typing http://ir-balun-retreat

Any other thoughts? (Thanks very much for looking into this... much appreciated)

Hmm, I will try it out with a static address tomorrow, however the protocol is 100% the same.

We are also using static DHCP IPs here in our office with a LINUX DHCP server.

Hi,
static addresses do work, too. It must have to do with the config of your DHCP service.

Any ideas what else I can change in the config of DD-WRT which might impact DHCP? As far as I can tell there are no other parameters I can alter - and if its working for you... wondering why it doesn't work for me.

Very odd.

The only thing you might do is to post the DHCP config of your router (DHCP general + DHCP services).

Perhaps there is a 2nd DHCP server in your network.

To my knowledge there is not another DHCP server in my network - just the Linksys Router running dd-wrt - but is there a way of testing this?

I have a pdf of the appropriate page with DHCP config settings from dd-wrt - but I can't upload pdf (says this file type isn't allowed). Can you give me an email address to send to?

Just used windows XP tool dhcploc.exe to check for duplicate DHCP servers -
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kbase/WindowsTips/Windows2000/AdminTips/DHCPandDNS/UsingtheDHCPLOCUtility.html

Output was:
C:\Documents and Settings\>dhcploc 192.168.1.107
15:43:11 OFFER (IP)192.168.1.138 (S)192.168.1.1 ***

Which indicates its just the dd-wrt Linksys router offering DHCP services in this subnet.
