Not able to communicate to IRTrans via Ethernet

Hi,

i've got a Problem connecting to the webinterface / reach the "irtrans lan db" via network if the device is connected to a switch.
When I'm connecting the device directly to my laptop, I'm able to ping and connect to the webinterface.

Strange thing is, that i'm able to see a log entry within the dhcp server, that the irtrans get's an ip address. But after that, no communication is possible (if it's connected via the switch)

Regards,

Nils

Hmm, we have never seen that so far. If you know the IP Address you should be able to get onto the device.
Can you ping it?

Please check if the LAN Status LED (Green) of the IRTrans on the LAN Connector is on.

Please try the "ip_assign" utility. It will show you the IP Address of the IRTrans device.

Hi,

I've did that while having the device directly connected to my laptop. I've assigned 172.16.100.22/24 as IP address.
If I connect the device to the switch, it's not shown within ip_assign anymore nor is it accessible via webinterface or ping.

I've checked the port with other devices... The Port is okay.

Do you have any other ideas?

Regards,

Nils

Hmm, I am running out of ideas.

I know that there are a few switches around (e.g. from Linksys) that are using a wrong polarity for the data lines. That is a hardware bug of the switch.
Those switches are not IEEE compliant and the IRTrans devices will not work with those switches. With devices using 100MBit this error will not be visible.

Do you have a different switch for testing?
What IP Address does your PC use?

Hi,

now I'm impressed. That did the trick. I'm using a Linksys-SRW2024.
I've bought a cheak 10/100 MBit 5Port Switch from an eletronic reseller today and attached the irtrans device to that switch and the switch to my "big one".

Now everything is working.

Thank you very much for your help!

Best Regards,

Nils
