I can't teach timing nor of my remotes to RS232

Postby dap » Sat 10. Jan 2009, 22:53

Hi!

I've an RS232 IRTrans. I installed the softwares on Fedora 9, but I can't teach that for noting (no timing, no RAW commands, etc). For the testing I connected the module to a laptop over an USB-Serial adapter. I'm using a AC-DC adapter to power IRTrans. I've tried IRServer Version 6.01.04 and IRServer Version 5.12.08 too.

I tried Denon (RC-1022), Yamaha (RAV323) and Samsung (LE40M87) remotes. If I push the buttons on remotes, the irserver prints in -debug_code mode:
[0.0]: 010001011000100301000010011101120100010110001000 48
[0.0]: 010000011000100301000110011101120100000110001000 48
every each short push on the same button prints the same "code".

The LED of the IR module is green and red for a short time after I switch on my laptop. After the boot I do:

old$ sudo ./irserver -debug_code -loglevel 10 -baudrate 38400 /dev/ttyUSB0 &

I tried with another machine without the USB-Serial adapter and works well! :) Why does not work with that adapter?? I'm managing servers and network devices with that and no problems.

Hi,
the problem is, that USB communication works in blocks while RS232 works character by character.

Depending on the USB-RS232 adaptor that might cause problems.

However, we also use IRTrans RS232 devices with an USB adaptor and it works. Might depend on the adaptor that is used...
