Intermittent problem in irserver64

Postby fkohari » Fri 25. Sep 2009, 17:02

I am using irtrans alongwith another ir receiver built into my box, a silverstone 16m. I am using the irtrans as a blaster. I am using the command:
/usr/local/irtrans -daemon -no_lirc /dev/ttyUSB0

However, I am getting an intermittent error message when I run the command in my startup script:
Error opening COM/USB Port / LAN Device

Just to clarify, sometimes the command works and sometimes I get an error message. Although< it seems that if I start it in a terminal after startup is complete it works every time. Seems like a conflict with the lircd or irexec that is running. How do I handle this?

any pointers in the right direction would really help.

thanks

Mostly that problem happens because some parts of the OS that is needed by the irserver is not ready yet (e.g. IP Stack).

Please try to start the irserver as last item during bootup.

I have the same problem. After upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 (i386). I can't get irtrans to start.

root@htpc:~# irserver -loglevel 4 -debug_code /dev/ttyUSB0
Init Server Socket done
Init Events done
Opening Device: /dev/ttyUSB0
IRTRans Send status: 0 - 0 SEQ:121 TO:250
IRTRans Send status: 0 - 0 SEQ:121 TO:250
IRTRans Send status: 0 - 0 SEQ:121 TO:250
IRTRans Send status: 0 - 0 SEQ:121 TO:250
IRTRans Send Done: 4
IRTRans Send status: 0 - 0 SEQ:122 TO:250
IRTRans Send status: 0 - 0 SEQ:122 TO:250
IRTRans Send status: 0 - 0 SEQ:122 TO:250
IRTRans Send status: 0 - 0 SEQ:122 TO:250
IRTRans Send Done: 4
Init communication ...
Error opening COM/USB Port / LAN Device

It worked ok with Ubuntu 9.04

Seems to be a bug in ubuntu :

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/460857

and this one:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8331768

Looks like a kernel issue which is resolved in 2.6.31.5

Thank you for that information.

Looks like we cannot do anything here ...
