56kHz codes

Postby the-wal » Wed 1. Feb 2012, 00:26

Hello and thank you in advance for any help.

I am having trouble learning my pioneer receiver and pay tv box, the codes appears to learn ok but when I try and send the codes the units do not respond. The code that is returned is very similar to my Samsung TV, the code starts with S then a series of ones and zeros after that. The code for the tv works fine.

My questions are,
If the units use 56 kHz which can be the case here in Australia, would the standard receiver still appear to learn the codes at 38 kHz?

The External Universal IR Receiver only has a range of 1m, if I was to lean the code with the External Universal IR Receiver would the standard receiver be able to receive the code at greater then 1m?

I should note that I am currently using a Logitech remote to control all devices, I am not sure if this means the Logitech can handle multiple frequencies for the three devices in question all use the same frequency.

Thanks again for your help.
Cheers
Tony

Hi,
when learning the codes do they look the same each time?

In general you will need the correct receiver to receive the IR Codes again. You will need a 56kHz receiver if you are using 56kHz codes.

If you have learned the codes correctly (e.g. using the Learning receiver) the IRTrans can send the codes again without any problem.
It is also no problem to send mixed codes (38/56) using the IRTrans once the codes have been learned (as with the Logitech remote).

Thank you.

Please correct me if I am wrong, you need the External Universal IR Receiver to lean 56kHz codes, and you are limited to the 1 meter range of you want to receive those codes for day to day use?
For example, I am using homeseer to control my lights etc. The receiver is 4 meters away from my seat, when I click power on for my 56kHz device, homeseer will not be able to process the code.

Thanks again.

That is correct.

The learning receiver is only intended to learn IR Codes.

If you want to receive 56kHz codes (e.g. for Homeseer) you will need a 56kHz receiver.

However, first you should make sure that the codes in question are 56kHz codes.

How would I go about that? and do you sell 56k receivers?

Thanks for our help and sorry for the slow response.

Yes, we do sell 56kHz receivers.

However, I am not sure if that are 56kHz codes.

If the IR Code looks the same each time you learn it it is rather unlikely that it is a 56kHz code.

Thanks again.
I have done a little more testing, I managed to find the CCF / Pronto code for my device. When I imported them using your GUI app the converted code was an exact match.
So I can learn the code, I can receive the code and trigger a homeseer event but when instructed to transmit the code the device does not respond.

Could you please post the .rem file (the learned one and the imported one)?

I see the timings are different but commands are the same. Still neither work when I send from your GUI through the wifi unit.
Cheers

Really strange - the codes look fine.

What does the IRTrans do when you try to send them (Blink of LED) ?
