Starting MediaPortal with the green button

I recently bought an OrigenAE S10V case and installed my HTPC. I now would like to open MediaPortal with the green button on my remote. There is a small tool on the MediaPortal site, that works on and off, but I would really like an official solution. For instance, like this example that let's you power your PC on and off example
Can somebody help me with a simple guide to do this?

Well, to answer my own question. There is a plugin for MediaPortal called mptray4irtrans which does the job for now, but it still would be nice to have a solution inside the irtrans software.
