ethernet

Postby adrian » Fri 4. Jul 2008, 18:41

Hi,

I have a sky box in a room where I also have an ethernet socket which is connected to my network.

I want to be able to log onto a PC elsewhere on the network and control the skybox remotely

Can you please tell me a) is the "IRtrans ethernet" the piece of hardware that i require
b) do i need another PC in the same room as the skybox
and b) will I have to purchase any additional software.

Essentially I only want to be able to change the channel of the skybox by remote - I don't need any other functionality.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

Adrian

Hi Adrian,
thank you for your interest in our products.

In general the IRTrans Ethernet is the right product to use.

However, if you do not want to have another PC running you should use the IRTrans Ethernet with flash IRDB.
It allows you to store all the IR Codes inside the device itself. They can then be sent using http links or http pages.

For the standard IRTrans Ethernet you will need to have a running PC that provides the IR Codes.

Hi,

The ethernet device can receive one http request and then send several IR codes at the same time.

Is the ethernet device able to receive a single IR code and then send several IR codes at the same time ?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,
if you use a device with IR Database that is possible through IR Translation.

Hi,

What do you mean with "IR Translation" ? The IR Translator device ?

Another question :
Is the ethernet device able to receive a single IR code and then execute a http request ?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi,
not only the IRTrans Translator can translate IR Codes. - All Ethernet Devices with IR Database can also translate IR.

Sending an http request when IR is received is not possible - however it is possible to send UDP ASCII Strings to selected ports and IPs.
